Best Cherry Tomato Ever!, August 20, 2007
Submitted by 4sun

"I grew this tomato for the first time this year because all of my friends and family told me how awesome the tomato was. I planted two plants and gave the other one away to my cousin. The plants are now producing so many tomatoes I don't know what to do with them. I am canning, freezing, and just eating raw. The plants are now about 7 feet tall. As for the taste they are #1! They are so sweet! No one can get enough of them! Another positive effect is that they are low in acid so no matter how many you eat you don't get heartburn. The neighbor's kids, which are 3 and 5, come up to our garden and eat these tomatoes right off of the vine for that fact that the vines don't require the use of pesticide for they have no pests. This tomato is my family and I's favorite tomato ever!"

Most exciting plant I've ever grown, August 21, 2007
Submitted by 4sun

"I planted all the seeds and used the method of putting a bag of dirt and a bag of manure in a mound. (I actually used a bag of miracle grow dirt)
I've never done pumpkins before and I was astonished to see them grow so quickly. My husband was very skeptical of the plantings but I think he was more excited than I was. He would bring all the neighbors over and show them how big our pumpkins were. : - ) We had one that was growing so big and fast but I underestimated the amount of room you need so that big pumpkin was on the Watermelon mound and the pumpkin must have turned too much and the stem cracked in half. I ended up cutting it off and putting it in my back yard. When I took it off it was only light orange but now 2 months later it's bright orange and still hard as a rock. I was heartbroken when I had to take it off the vine but am happy I may be able to use it as fall decoration. My husband is already mapping out space for them next year."

"I can't say enough about how beautiful my Sunflowers were this year, I called them my Nature Fence, as they were planted in a row about 1/2 block long and gave me all the privacy I needed. Soooooooooooo many compliments on them."

Excellent Purchase, August 13, 2007
Submitted by Ernie from Baltimore, MD

"These sets worked great for me! I once bought onion plants and they grew to be about 2 inches wide. I bought these sets and they really surprised me! Some got to be 4 inches wide! Also, out of 300 sets 290 sprouted and made non-disease/edible onions. I was really impressed! One of the best buys ever!"

a very tasty melon, August 16, 2007
Submitted by Dragonfly

"I am a fairly experienced gardener, but a first time melon grower who moved from NY to Tennesee last year. Anything besides tomatoes has been pretty experimental for me this year and last, but I got these melons in a mixed melon packet. We have had an extremely dry (and hot) season this year , but these melons seem to do well with a minimum of water (and they love the heat). They have a wonderful, sweet and complex flavor, like a honeydew, but more so. And they are easy to grow. I will certainly plant them again next year and highly recommend them."

Love This Lavender!, August 11, 2007
Submitted by Lyndsey from Clarksville, TN

"The Lavender Lacy Frills has been the easiest plant in my entire yard! We have heavy clay soil, so when I planted it this Spring (in full sun) I ammended it with a little compost, about half compost and half native soil. I watered it every couple of days for the first week or so and haven't had to do a thing to it since (It's now August)! We're in a middle of a Severe/Extreme drought here in TN and the Lacy Frills looks just beautiful. It looks exactly like the picture here on Burpee's. I can't rave enough. My Hidcote lavender that I purchased from Lowe's doesn't look nearly as lush and healthy. You will not go wrong with this plant!"

"I have never grown an eggplant in my life, and I, now, am deluged with mountains of these, and from just a couple of plants. And during a summer of horrific draught, here, and beetles galore! My neighbors were so impressed! Beautiful and plentiful. I am Delighted!"

Purple Carrot is Awesome, August 10, 2007
Submitted by Ernie from Baltimore MD

"This carrot is easy to grow, tasty, and has a beautiful color. It is just as easy to grow as other carrots and I love the color it is actually very bright color. (The picture that Burpee provides is not misleading and that is what the carrot's color really is) I would recommend this carrot to anybody looking for something unusual to grow."

Strongest Phlox, August 10, 2007
Submitted by Elizabeth from North Shore, MA

"Phlox David really lives up to its reputation as the most disease- and mildew-resistant phlox. The blossom clusters are lush and full and if you dead-head, side shoots with buds will appear and bloom yet again. Some may require staking because the blooms are so plentiful and heavy, but for the most part, David's stems are strong and can stand tall even in full bloom. David is the healthiest phlox I have planted in terms of height, strength, disease-resistance and flowering."

Submitted by hlthnut

"I've experimented with numerous types of cucumbers and the Sweeter Yet has been one of the best producers. The taste is also excellent. I have four plants growing and it's not uncommon to pick 6-10 cucumbers each day. Hope your neighbors like free cucumbers!"
