In six weeks they were blooming, although leggy, because I did not want to pinch them back so late in the season here in Virginia. Despite the hot humid weather, these plants never showed any mildew or rust. They were a delight, although a bit shorter than I thought they would be. The individual flowers had an exceptionally long life and just shined and shined. Really such a great plant for direct sowing! Most people thought they were some type of early mum. Get them." |

Submitted by ewizabeth from Near Chicago "Growing moonflower in my N. Illinois garden (zone 5) is easy but I have to take a few steps to maximize enjoyment. First, plant them near a door or window so we can enjoy the wonderful fragrance each evening. Second, try to isolate them from anything that you don't want them to overtake such as lattices or patio furniture etc... In my experience they reach out and strongly "embrace" anything within reach. This year I'm planting them in the backyard with their own support and safely away from other plants and structures. They are truly lovely and a must for any garden!" |

I was wondering when they would ever flower, because after I transplanted outside, it took about 3 weeks, then wow did they ever bloom. They were so beautiful I got so many compliments from people as they walked by. FYI if you cut them and bring them in, they are just as beautiful." |
