"Since I start my seeds in a cold basement in winter, I decided to purchase the 48" x 20 3/4" seedling heat mat in Winter 2008 to see if it would help with faster and more effective germination. The mat worked beautifully! I have never had such success in seed germination before using this mat.

I was able to squeeze four mats and part of a fifth onto the mat (rotating them all from time to time to equalize time on the mat). Within 48 hours, about 50% of my seeds had started sprouting. By the end of a week, a total of about 85% of my seeds had begun germinating. Many of these seeds were two to three years old, and I hadn't had much success with them in previous years (even when I first bought them). I thought the seeds were just of poor quality.

When it was time for planting in the spring, my plants were stronger and larger than any others at that time during previous years. I always start my seeds and plant my plants at the same times every year, including this past year when I used the heat mat.

I did not measure the temperature difference between flats on the mat and flats not on the mat, but I could definitely feel the temperature difference when I put my hand under the heated flats. These flats were definitely much warmer than the ambient air in the basement. I did not use a temperature regulator, but germination was still quite successful.

Adding a little heat using this mat solved a lot germination problems for me. I would recommend getting a seedling heat mat to anyone who starts seeds in a cooler room or basement. If you start a lot of seeds, purchasing the largest mat is definitely worth the price!"

Wow is this an amazing tomato! Far better flavor than the Better Boy, Celebrity and Parks Whopper hybrids> I think this tastes every bit as good, even better than Rutgers which I think is a heck of a compliment to a hybrid. If I absolutely had to choose one variety of tomato that I could only plant for the rest of my life, this may well be it. I can't get over the quality of flavor in a tomato that is this perfect in every single category. This is the best all around tomato out there, hands down. I can not do it enough justice to speak of all this tomato is."

It is still my favorite red cherry but this Sun Gold variety is the best Cherry Tomato I have ever tasted bar none. Everyone I have given it to loves it. I did not think an orange tomato would be this good, boy was I wrong. Huge, super productive plants, early producers, disease resistant and they pretty much grow themselves without any intervention to top it all off. They will crack with uneven watering but that's a small price to pay for the greatest cherry tomato of all time, bar none, hands down. I am mad at myself for not trying this before."

We found the tomato, Big Mama. I'm sorry that other customers did not have our success. We had large, perfect tomatoes. We grew 8 plants and this past weekend harvested about 100 tomatoes. We made sauce, used them in fajitas and had them on a salad. We were really impressed. These meaty tomatoes had less seeds and lots of meat. We will grow more plants next year."

I've grown four of these plants on a variety of trellises, including small wooden frames, an old tomato cage, and on two Burpee tomato towers (including one in a container). They have crawled and creeped back and forth across the supports and generated long, straight cucumbers consistently. The seeds aren't that large within the cucumbers and the flesh is never dry.
