Great for Grilling, May 23, 2008
Submitted by NashvilleGardner from Nashville, TN

"I've tried about 1/2 a dozen eggplant variaties, and this is my favorite. The fruit sets much earlier than some variaties. The fruit is slender and long, almost a foot. They are easily sliced into grilling thickness. A little olive oil, pepper and salt is all they need for grilling, and they are delicious! The fruit is plentiful with relatively few and small seeds. Highly recommended."

Good starter eggplant, December 24, 2007
Submitted by Cyrusdust from Sandy

"I grew this eggplant for this first time this last year. My first time growing eggplant at all actually. I was a little worried at first because it seemed to take such a long time for the plant to start producing flowers. Then all of a sudden a burst of beautiful purple flowers. It was quite a site and the fruits that were produced were beautiful and so yummy. I made some yummy dishes that were much better tasting and a better consistency than the store bought eggplant. Buying some more seed for this next year and I'm looking forward to trying some other varieties of eggplant as well!"

care free, December 2, 2007
Submitted by jjjj from NJ

"These were so easy to grow with the proper soil preparation. I started a six pack indoors and they grew to about 3 inches then in June they just started growing even when bugs started to make some of there leaves look like Swiss cheese they still kept growing with minor control of the bug. I never use chemicals in my garden so the bugs never disappeared, but just by picking off what ever I could for a few weeks was enough. Excellent fruit. Would defiantly recommend to someone who doesn’t want to have to use harmful chemicals."

Best of them all?, November 4, 2007

"I grow new varieties of eggplant every year. This is an AAS winner for a reason. FANTASTIC! I mean, I really don't mix words. Best eggplant I have ever had. Wish they were bigger though. These really produced well and I am glad they did. My neighbors, friends and family could not get enough."

wonderful for Asian dishes, September 24, 2007
Submitted by midwestgardener from Northwest OH

"These are perfect for my cooking and gardening style. I got frustrated with waiting for the few large eggplants I can grow in my limited space, raised beds. I found a wilted lone plant last year at the local gardening center, and it out-produced my other plants combined. So I was delighted to find them at Burpees this year. I was not disappointed. We feasted on eggplant dishes of every variety throughout July and well into August. I do get grubs (that later turn into beetles), but handpicking keeps them under control in my small garden. The plants stopped producing in late August when shaded by a nearby zucchini plant, but when I got them back in the sun, they have started to flower and produce again. If you like Chinese or Indian eggplant dishes, these are for you!"

"I have never grown an eggplant in my life, and I, now, am deluged with mountains of these, and from just a couple of plants. And during a summer of horrific draught, here, and beetles galore! My neighbors were so impressed! Beautiful and plentiful. I am Delighted!"

Black Beauty Eggplant,May 28, 2007
Submitted by Amber

"I started my Black Beauty Eggplants as seeds quite unsure. I had never grown eggplant before and didn't know if I could. Within 7 days my seeds had sprouted and were on the road to success. Now 3 months later my Eggplant are doing great! About 2 1/4 feet tall and full of blooms! I have NEVER seen a pest on them and I definantly would reccomend them to a beginner!!! Thank you Burpee."
