A subtle spicy undertone with a traditional sweet basil taste, we used this twice as fast as all our other basils last year. Easily grown, we direct sowed twice for long season, slow to go to seed." |

This fall I brought into the house to over-winter and it'd done okay. I think if I had started a pot in the house and left it there it would have done better but the cats don't complain." |

Submitted by Plantasaurus from Jenks Oklahoma "I had Basil all summer long. All I had to do is step out my back door and clip what I needed off. I planted mine in a flower box that is on a stand. I put one shole packet of seeds in the container and I think I ended up with about 10 sturdy plants after I thinned them out. Next year I am moving the extras to a side garden to make gourmet oils with for gifts. I saved so much money growing my own Basil all summer. We pay about 2.99 for a little plastic container . I know I saved at least 50$, maybe even more. Keep those flowers trimmed off and your plants will grow right up until they freeze." |

Submitted by JeanWK from Elkton, SD "Very dependable seed--it always comes up! I wait until about July 1 to plant so that it coincides with salsa season in August and September. It is one of the few herbs that really needs to be used fresh, so I agree that you should plant some every few weeks so it is ready when you are. Cilantro reseeds itself readily; all of the little seeds at the end of the season will be plants next year. I think it changes personality when cooked, so try it many different ways." |

Last year i grew it in rather poor soil mixed with some organic miracle grow garden soil and it did well....so well that deer and rabbits ate just about all of it to the ground! I managed to save a few leaves and made a very herby and delicious tea from them. This year i'm putting my lemon basil in a planter, far away from nature's little theives! This basil is excellent for those who love to cook exotic asian dishes." |

With the tiny seeds I collect them and plant. The flavor in tea is also great. Even chewing the leaves is good too. Not sure if they will raise your sugar level. With the runners that hang down, the root also." |
